Black & White, Classic, Photobook

The Bauhaus-Archiv Berlin devoted a special exhibition to Gertrud Arndt in January 2013, linking her textile art and photography with each other for the first time.

Over the five years when she took an active interest in photography, she captured herself and her friends in various styles, costumes and settings in the series known as Masked Portraits. Gertrud Arndt was rediscovered as a photographer during the 1980s, and has been compared with contemporary female photographers such as Marta Astfalck-Vietz and Claude Cahun.
